Aircraft Degreasing Services for Exterior Components
Aircraft Degreasing Services
Aircraft degreasing is a critical part of proper exterior aircraft maintenance and plays a major role in preserving both appearance and long-term surface condition. At Pure Aviation Detailing, degreasing is integrated into our Exterior Dry-Wash process and is also a required preparation step for paint polishing and ceramic coating services.
All aircraft accumulate some level of oil residue, carbon buildup, and exhaust staining over time. If left untreated, these contaminants can stain paint, degrade finishes, and accelerate surface wear. Routine degreasing helps prevent these issues while keeping the aircraft clean, professional, and easier to maintain.
Critical Areas Addressed During Degreasing
Degreasing focuses on areas where contamination naturally concentrates during normal aircraft operation. These include:
Belly and lower fuselage
Landing gear and gear wells
Engine areas and nacelles
Flaps and control surface hinge points
APU ports
Areas adjacent to exhaust outlets
These locations are especially prone to buildup and require controlled, methodical cleaning to avoid damage while fully removing residue.
Aviation-Approved Products and Controlled Process
We use Fly Shiny Oil Delete, a trusted, aviation-approved degreasing solution designed specifically for aircraft surfaces. This product is formulated to safely break down oil, carbon, and exhaust residue without harming paint or underlying materials when used correctly.
Degreasing is performed using a hand-applied process, where the product is sprayed onto a high-GSM microfiber towel, gently agitated on the surface, and then wiped away in a controlled manner. This approach allows precise removal of contaminants while minimizing the risk associated with aggressive chemicals or uncontrolled rinsing.
We take deliberate care to avoid sensitive areas, including static ports, weeping wings, rubber boots, and other critical components, ensuring the aircraft remains protected throughout the process.
Purpose, Results, and Service Integration
The goal of aircraft degreasing is to leave affected areas clean and residue-free, reduce the risk of paint staining, and support long-term surface preservation. Degreasing is not the same as paint polishing and is not intended to correct surface defects or oxidation. Instead, it serves as a preventative maintenance step and an essential foundation for higher-level exterior services.
Degreasing is performed same day, following the same scheduling structure as our Exterior Dry-Wash service. It is included with paint polishing and ceramic coating services and can be bundled with interior detailing for a discounted rate. While degreasing is not offered as a standalone service, it remains one of the most important elements of effective aircraft exterior care.
